Burn for me hidden legacy5/24/2023 ![]() ![]() You rescued your cousin, but you had been content to ignore the existence of that whole branch of your family. You do it because they offer you unquestioning loyalty. You hire desperate soldiers, but you don’t do it to save them either. I think you did it because Adam Pierce got under your skin. “You saved the city, but I don’t think you did it because you genuinely cared about all those people. “You have no regard for human life,” I said. He was not a good man and he was controlling and abusive to our heroine, who was a very very good person. ![]() I will just say that he was a horrible human being. Number one is I hated the hero and love interest, Mad Rogan. And that makes the two things I did not like overlook-able. Mr./Ms Andrews does what I need in a good writer: They establish an intimate easy rapport with the reader making you part of the story rather than an outsider looking in. I have never read an “urban fantasy” book before that I know of, so I found the world-building and premises creative and fascinating and entertaining. It was a page-turner that kept me very intrigued and involved throughout. The action sequences were well done and exciting. ![]() I loved her family: They were all interesting and likable and they were all devoted to each other despite the normal family tensions. I loved Nevada, the heroine, and her snarky humor. ![]() Burn For Me was such a good book in so many ways. ![]()

You can be the stainless steel rat5/24/2023 ![]() ![]() Our hero (a thief who turns policeman) steals money in bags and carries it to other planets hidden in his luggage. Our hero spends a fair time rustling his way through dusty heaps of files.Ĭurrency is paper and coin. ![]() And that's pretty much it.įiles are held in filing cabinets on paper. They take anything from 1o seconds to several minutes to search modest databases. ![]() ![]() You feed them navigation instructions on tape. (some run on coal!)Ĭomputers on the other hand do bugger all. The robots have 'robot brains' and can do complex jobs like being policemen. The Stainless Steel universe has the 'standard' many-times-faster-than-light travel, instant communication (via psychic telephone men this time), and highly intelligent robots.Ī strange distinction is made between robots and computers. The main points of interest for me were how poor a prediction of future technology it was, and how badly sci-fi was written 55 years ago. My copy comes from the late 80s when it was selling very well. First in a successful and long running series. Pulp sci-fi written in 1961 and reprinted dozens of times. ![]()

![]() The book length is 122 pages but since the chapters are very small & there are lots of coloured graphic content to make it catchy, entertaining for better imagination & understanding of the kids. ![]() It's a book for kids age 7-10yrs, published by scholastic in 2004. Today's book review is on Geronimo Stilton's book "The Temple of the Ruby of Fire". overall it was a good book with a little bit of comedy and a lot of adventure. my favourite part in this book is when the bad guys get attacked by the good guys because i thought it was pretty brave of the good guys to attack first. my favourite character in this book is monkey fur because she can speak animal languages.i thought it was cool because she asked the snake for the diamond and the snake gave it to her. ![]() ![]() I would obviously prefer the fake diamond over the real because it can create fire. the original diamond unfortunately can't create fire and this diamond is behind the temple guarded by a snake.I rated this book a 4 was because the original diamond can't do anything special but if i sell it i could earn a lot of money. An ancient temple with something so precious as the ruby of fire is something which kinda made me a little bit excited for this book.the ruby of fire produces oil which makes fire.well surprise surprise the ruby inside the temple isn't the real ruby of fire although it can create of fire. ![]()
